Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
This policy explains how Clipz Engine, operated by Amani Nchapha (a sole proprietor based in Johannesburg, South Africa), collects and uses personal information. We process data in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, for users in the EU and UK, the GDPR.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and login information.
- Waitlist details: what you submit on our early-access form (hosted by Tally).
- Your content: videos you upload or connect, and the clips, transcripts and analysis we create from them.
- Your choices: which clips you keep, skip or trim, and your settings. We use these to learn your style.
- Connected accounts: if you connect a platform such as YouTube, the access we are granted and the channel data needed to find videos and post clips for you.
- Billing: handled by Paddle. We never see or store your full card details.
- Technical data: basic logs such as IP address and browser type, used for security and fixing errors.
How we use it
- to provide the Service: process your videos, make clips and post them when you ask;
- to personalise clip suggestions to your style;
- to send service emails and, if you opt in, messages such as clips-ready notifications;
- to handle billing, support, security and legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to advertise to you.
Who we share it with
We use trusted providers who process data for us under contract, including:
- cloud hosting, storage and GPU compute providers (for example Amazon Web Services and Vercel);
- AI model providers (for example Anthropic) to analyse transcripts and generate text;
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for payments;
- email and messaging providers for notifications;
- platforms you connect (for example YouTube), when you ask us to post.
Some of these providers are outside South Africa. When data is transferred abroad we rely on providers that offer adequate protection.
YouTube API Services
If you connect YouTube, Clipz Engine uses YouTube API Services. By connecting, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke our access at any time from your settings or at Google security settings.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your content and personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal or tax reasons.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it, by emailing support@clipzengine.com. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa or your local data protection authority.
